The registration date corresponds to the filing date of the international application. Examination in the selected states is carried out in terms of 1 – 1.5 years. If there are no objections to registration in the selected states, international registration is considered as valid. If an objection is received in relation to a State (preliminary refusal), the applicant can argue in favor of registration in that State.
Process
International registration via the Madrid System is carried out on the basis of national registration only, i.e. it is necessary to submit an application to the national intellectual property department of Ukraine before submitting an international application. An international application can be filed based on a certificate, or on a filed application.
